Green Feet

As a Portlander, we pride ourselves on our eco-friendly lifestyle. Especially nowadays, the idea of being "green" is pretty much integrated into every aspect of our lives. What about our running? As runners, we assume that the simplicity of the sport means we aren't really affecting the environment. It's a little more complicated than that, though. Think about when you drive to group workouts or fly to races. Or what about all that technical gear that is made overseas? And how many of you are actually recycling all those old pairs of running shoes? (On a side note, you can bring your worn out shoes to any Nike or Fit Right NW store and they will take care of the rest.) Well, even though running is still a relatively low-impact sport compared to others, there are some things you can do to even further reduce your carbon footprint. Take a look at these tips that Runner's World has compiled.

Run Like Hell | Sunday, Oct 19 - Portland

Get in the Halloween spirit by dressing up for the 6th annual Run Like Hell Half Marathon! Costumes are not only encouraged but also rewarded during the post-run costume contest. Hood and more!

Not ready for a half marathon? There is also a 10k and 5k run/walk complete with their own costume contests. Both courses are fairly flat making them great for all ages and abilities. You can also bring the little ones along as all events are stroller friendly. Best of Luck!

For all of you have survived your training for the Portland Marathon, the big day is finally upon us! The moment you decided to run in this top-ranked race is now months behind you, along with countless runs - some of which were great, and some of which were probably not so great (unless you're a crazy person who loved every second of your training). Hopefully you are well prepared and more importantly, excited! I'll admit that I am kind of nervous, but I'm sure the adrenaline will kick in as soon as the start gun goes off... or at least I hope so. Make sure to check out the schedule of events for the weekend so you know when you can pick up your race packet, check out the expo, take a bus tour of the course, and maybe even join in on the yummy pasta dinner! Good luck and happy running!
